Africa Cup of Nations 2027 qualifiers: Nigeria stunned by Guinea-Bissau as Ghana lose to Gambia

The second round of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign continued on Tuesday with 17 matches across the continent, including defeats for Nigeria, Ghana and Togo.

Nigeria were unable to build on their opening-day victory as Guinea-Bissau secured a convincing 3-0 win. The Super Eagles left Bissau without a goal, while Madagascar and Tanzania shared the points after a 1-1 draw.

Algeria were held to a 2-2 draw by Burundi in Bujumbura. The Fennecs had fallen two goals behind but fought back to claim a point and remain top of their group.

Togo failed to take advantage of Algeria’s dropped points, losing 2-0 to Zambia in Ndola. The Chipolopolo took control of the match to leave the Eperviers empty-handed.

Morocco and Egypt maintained their strong starts to the campaign. Morocco defeated Lesotho 2-0, while Egypt recorded the biggest win of the day with a 5-0 victory over South Sudan.

Ghana were beaten 4-2 by Gambia, while Senegal edged Ethiopia 1-0. Cote d’Ivoire also won away from home, defeating Somalia 2-0.

Uganda claimed a narrow 1-0 victory against Libya, and Comoros beat Namibia by the same scoreline. Rwanda came from behind to win 2-1 against Cape Verde.

Gabon defeated Niger 2-0, while Benin recorded a 2-1 victory over Mauritania. Mozambique produced a convincing 4-1 win against Sudan.

Congo and Cameroon played out a 1-1 draw, while Liberia secured a 1-0 victory over Mali.
