Samuel Eto’o revives iconic ‘old man’ celebration after scoring against Germany

Samuel Eto’o reminded football fans why he remains one of the game’s enduring icons during Cameroon’s 2-2 friendly draw with Germany on Sunday.
The veteran striker, who opened the scoring in the high-profile World Cup warm-up match, surprised spectators by resurrecting his well-known “old man” celebration — a cheeky nod to his age and enduring class on the pitch.
After netting the opener, Eto’o ran to the corner flag and leaned against the post, mimicking the gait of an elderly man. The celebration echoed a similar moment earlier this season when the former Barcelona and Chelsea forward scored against Tottenham.
Back then, his Chelsea manager José Mourinho had publicly questioned Eto’o’s longevity in the game, stirring debate about his age and fitness. Eto’o’s playful reenactment appeared to send a pointed message, showing that despite being 33, he still has plenty to offer at the highest level.
The celebration was met with cheers and laughter, a reminder of Eto’o’s charismatic personality and status as a true lion of African football.
