Morocco’s U23 national team has officially started their preparations for the final round of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in their category. The Atlas Lion Cubs began their training session on Wednesday in El Jadida, under the guidance of their coach, as they aim to secure a spot in the tournament.
The team, which participated in the last edition of the competition, will miss the first two rounds before returning to action. These opening rounds of the qualifiers are scheduled for April 24, 25, and 26. The final round will be crucial as the top teams will earn a place in the AFCON U23 tournament, which could serve as a stepping stone for qualification for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
Around 30 players have been invited to participate in the training session, showcasing Morocco’s investment in their youth team for the future. This group is expected to be pivotal in Morocco’s U23 journey, with a promising mix of emerging talent.
Once the first round of matches is completed, Morocco will rejoin the qualifiers and aim to build upon their strong past performances to reach the prestigious final phase of the tournament.
