AFCON 2027 qualifiers: Senegal face Ethiopia as Zambia meet Togo in second round

The second round of the Africa Cup of Nations 2027 qualifiers will take place across Monday, 28 September and Tuesday, 29 September 2026, with Senegal under pressure to claim their first win under Patrick Vieira.

Senegal were held to a 1-1 draw by Mozambique in the opening round, which marked Vieira’s first match in charge. The Lions of Teranga must now overcome Ethiopia to settle early concerns and provide reassurance to their supporters.

One of the most anticipated fixtures of the round will see Guinea-Bissau take on Nigeria in Group L.

Elsewhere, Algeria travel to Burundi, while Morocco host Lesotho. Cote d’Ivoire, who began their campaign with a 2-0 victory over Ghana, will be away to Somalia.

Zambia face Togo in Ndola

Zambia will play Togo on 29 September at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

The Sparrowhawks opened their qualifying campaign with a victory against Burundi in Lome. Zambia, by contrast, suffered a 3-1 defeat by Algeria in their first match.

The second round of fixtures begins on Monday, with the qualifying programme spread over two days.

Senegal’s meeting with Ethiopia, Guinea-Bissau’s Group L clash against Nigeria, Algeria’s trip to Burundi, Morocco’s match against Lesotho and Cote d’Ivoire’s away game against Somalia are among the key fixtures to be followed during the round.
