AFCON 2027 qualifiers: Herve Renard plans changes for Ivory Coast clash with Somalia

Ivory Coast head coach Herve Renard says he will make some changes to his starting line-up when his side face Somalia in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on Tuesday.

The Elephants travel into the Group C encounter after opening their campaign with a 2-0 victory over Ghana in Bouake last week.

Renard is expected to rotate his squad against Somalia, although the Frenchman has stressed that he will not make wholesale changes to the team.

Renard hints at changes

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Renard confirmed that some players could be given an opportunity against Somalia.

“There will certainly be a few changes, but don’t expect an upheaval. Things will build up little by little,” Renard said.

Ivory Coast will be looking to maintain their strong start to the qualifiers as they aim to secure another victory in Group C.

The match is scheduled to kick off at 19:00 GMT on Tuesday, September 29.

A win would keep Renard’s side at the top of Group C as the Elephants continue their bid to qualify for the 2027 AFCON tournament.
