AFCON 2027 Qualifiers: Gambia ready for Ghana test after five days of preparation – Abdou Jameh

Gambia assistant coach Abdou Jameh says the Scorpions are well prepared for their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Ghana after spending the past five days working towards the Group C clash.

Gambia will face the Black Stars at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday, September 29, with both teams approaching the match from contrasting positions in the group.

The Scorpions began their qualifying campaign with a 2-1 victory over Somalia, while Ghana suffered a 2-0 defeat to Côte d’Ivoire in Bouaké.

Jameh said the Gambian camp has been focused on preparing for the challenge since arriving in Ghana.

“We arrived last evening, as you mentioned. I think we’ve been together now for the past five days preparing for this game. So, this is day two, and our focus is now on that,” he said.

The assistant coach expects the team’s preparation to translate into a positive outcome against the Black Stars.

“Yeah, we’re looking forward to a good, positive result tomorrow,” he added.

Gambia’s strong start has put them alongside Côte d’Ivoire at the top of Group C, while Ghana are bottom after their opening defeat.

Jameh said the Scorpions are concentrating on the immediate task rather than their previous result.

The match kicks off at 4pm GMT, with Ghana seeking their first points of the qualifying campaign and Gambia looking to maintain their winning start.
