AFCON 2027 Qualifiers: Gambia have put previous result behind them ahead of Ghana clash – Abdou Jameh 

Gambia assistant coach Abdou Jameh says the Scorpions have moved on from their opening result and are fully focused on Tuesday’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Ghana.

Gambia opened their Group C campaign with a 2-1 win over Somalia, giving them an early advantage in the race for qualification.

The Scorpions now face a Ghana side looking to recover from a 2-0 defeat to Côte d’Ivoire in their opening fixture in Bouaké.

Jameh insists the Gambians are not dwelling on their previous performance as they prepare for another difficult assignment in Accra.

“Actually, like you mentioned, that is behind us now. The focus now is the current one we are having, and it starts tomorrow,” he said.

He stressed that the team’s attention has shifted entirely towards the Ghana fixture and the objective of progressing to the 2027 AFCON.

“We played the past game, so that’s past and gone already. Our focus now is only tomorrow’s match. That’s what we are focusing on now to qualify for the next [AFCON],” Jameh added.

Gambia’s victory over Somalia has placed them at the top of Group C alongside Côte d’Ivoire, while Ghana sit bottom after their defeat in Bouaké.

The Black Stars must secure a result at the Accra Sports Stadium to revive their campaign, while Gambia can strengthen their position with another positive result.

The match is scheduled for 4pm GMT on Tuesday.
