AFCON 2027 qualifiers: Cameroon take control of Group G with 3-1 win over Comoros

Cameroon made a strong start to their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign with a convincing 3-1 victory over Comoros, putting the Indomitable Lions in early control of Group G.

David Nyengue opened the scoring in the 39th minute, giving Cameroon a deserved lead heading into the break.

The Indomitable Lions came out strongly after half-time and doubled their advantage just three minutes into the second half. Bryan Mbeumo found the back of the net in the 48th minute to make it 2-0.

Comoros responded quickly, with Warmed Omari pulling a goal back in the 51st minute to give his side renewed hope of mounting a comeback.

However, Cameroon remained in control and eventually put the result beyond doubt in the 81st minute when Danny Namaso scored to restore the two-goal advantage and seal a 3-1 win.

The victory gives Cameroon an important early boost in Group G as they look to secure qualification for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

Cameroon’s three points put them in a strong position at this early stage of the qualifying campaign. The Indomitable Lions will now turn their attention to their next fixture against Congo.

Comoros, meanwhile, will look to bounce back when they face Namibia in their next outing.

With the qualifying campaign still in its early stages, both sides will be looking to build momentum as the race for a place at AFCON 2027 continues.
