AFCON 2027 qualifiers: Cameroon, Comoros, Namibia and Congo set for tough Group G battle

Group G of the AFCON 2027 qualifiers is expected to produce exciting matches as Cameroon, Comoros, Namibia, and Congo battle for qualification to Africa’s biggest football tournament.

With each team aiming to secure one of the available spots, the group promises intense competition from the opening round of fixtures.

Five-time African champions Cameroon head into the qualifiers as favourites due to their rich history and experience at major tournaments. The Indomitable Lions will rely on their strong squad and winning mentality as they seek another appearance at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Comoros will also be confident of causing problems after their impressive rise in African football in recent years. The island nation has shown remarkable progress and could challenge for qualification once again.

Namibia and Congo are equally determined to make their mark in the qualifiers. Both sides possess talented players capable of producing surprises, making Group G one of the most competitive groups in the AFCON 2027 qualifying series.

The road to the 2027 finals will be contested across three distinct FIFA international windows, beginning later this year.

Matchdays 1 and 2 are scheduled for late September and early October 2026, followed by Matchdays 3 and 4 in November. The campaign will reach its climax in March 2027 with the final two rounds of fixtures.
