Comoros midfielder Youssouf Zaidou left the Mohammed V Stadium with mixed emotions after his side’s 0–0 draw against Zambia, a result that kept their AFCON 2025 hopes alive but felt like a missed opportunity.

Zaidou was named TotalEnergies Man of the Match, yet his words reflected more disappointment than personal satisfaction.

“We were looking to score a goal against Zambia, and unfortunately the goal we scored was not awarded,” he admitted, referring to Mzean Maoulida’s first-half strike that was ruled out by VAR for a foul in the build-up. He acknowledged that Comoros “lost concentration” at key moments and stressed how important taking all three points would have been for their campaign.

Despite that frustration, Zaidou quickly shifted focus to the decisive final group game against Mali, insisting the team will rest, reset and be ready to fight again.

He underlined that the Man of the Match trophy means little without a win, calling it a collective award belonging to all his teammates who worked tirelessly alongside him.

Comoros will play Mali on December 29th at the Stade Mohamed V.
