Morocco coach Walid Regragui has vowed that his team will rally in support of injured midfielder Azzedine Ounahi.
The Girona star, who has been a standout performer for the Atlas Lions, will miss the remainder of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) after sustaining an injury.
Ounahi was absent from Morocco’s Round of 16 clash against Tanzania on Sunday, as earlier revealed by AfricaSoccer.com.
Following Morocco’s hard-fought 1-0 victory, Regragui expressed his frustration over the loss of the midfielder but emphasized that the squad remains determined to succeed in his honor.
“As for Azzedine Ounahi, he picked up an injury in training and is out of the Africa Cup of Nations,” he said.
“We are losing an exceptional player and a leader in our dressing room, but we will continue to fight for him,” Regragui added.
Morocco will face Cameroon in the quarter-finals on Friday, January 9, at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 19:00 GMT.
