South Africa midfielder Teboho Mokoena insists his outfit were the better side despite succumbing to a defeat to Cameroon in the last 16 of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament, being held in Morocco.
The Bafana Bafana painfully excited the continental showpiece on Sunday night after falling short to the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon 2-1 in the round of 16 clash.
Junior Tchamadeu and Christian Kofane scored in the first half for the Indomitable Lions, while Evidence Makgopa scored to reduce the deficit for the Bafana Bafana in a high-stake clash.
Speaking after the match, Mokoena, who plies his trade for Mamelodi Sundowns attributed his sides defeat to luck, insisting the Bafana Bafana were the better side in the encounter.
“We played well but luck eluded us. We were the better team” he told GTV Sports Plus after the match.
Having being eliminated from the AFCON 2025, the Bafana Bafana will turn their attention to the upcoming 2026 World Cup tournament in the USA, Canada and Mexico.
