Egypt head coach Hossam Hassan says his technical team has carried out a thorough analysis of Senegal ahead of their Africa Cup of Nations semi-final clash at the 2025 tournament.
Speaking ahead of the encounter, Hassan explained that Egypt have carefully examined the Teranga Lions’ style of play, noting that preparation goes beyond tactics to include mental, psychological and physical aspects.
“We have analysed the team we will face. Of course, each opponent has a specific style of play and mental, psychological, and physical preparation,” he said.
Hassan added, “Each team has individual players, strengths, and weaknesses. We study the technical details with our players and work on solutions for this match. Of course, they are doing the same thing.”
The Egypt coach also acknowledged Senegal’s familiarity with Tangier, where they have been based since the start of the tournament, as well as their advantage of an extra day’s preparation. However, he maintained that such factors would not decide the outcome of the match.
According to Hassan, “the decisive factor in the match is the degree of luck and good preparation,” as he dismissed suggestions that Senegal represents a psychological hurdle for Egypt, the most successful nation in AFCON history.
Hassan further described the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations as a demanding competition, pointing to the intense rivalry among teams battling for continental glory.
He added that the tournament reflects the steady growth of African football and its rise to a globally competitive level.
Wednesday’s semi-final clash between Senegal and Egypt is scheduled to kick off at 17:00GMT.
