AFCON 2025: We have made an effort to be ready for the tournament – Achraf Hakimi

Achraf Hakimi has expressed huge excitement about playing the Africa Cup of Nations on home soil at Morocco 2025, stressing that the national team fully understands the weight of responsibility.

He said the players know what it means to compete in front of Moroccan fans and are determined to live up to those expectations.

In the pre‑match press conference before the opener against Comoros, Hakimi explained that the squad has worked hard to be in peak condition.

“We have been waiting for this opportunity for a long time, and we are aware of the responsibility that we have, and we have made a great effort to be at the peak of readiness.”

Hakimi also spoke about his leadership role, on and off the pitch, aiming to balance experienced players with emerging talents by motivating teammates and advising them even when he is not fully fit.

Regarding his recent injury, he admitted to some hesitation but chose not to rush back, praising the medical and technical staff for managing his recovery properly. He concluded that his condition is improving steadily and that he hopes to be at his best to help Morocco achieve its goals in this continental tournament.
