Sudan striker Mohamed Abdel Rahman has expressed optimism about his outfit defeating Equatorial Guinea in their second Group E clash at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, being held in Morocco.
The Falcons of Jediane takes on Equatorial Guinea at the Moulay Hassan Stadium, Rabat in Morocco on Sunday, December 28, 2025, with both teams aiming for a win to revive their chances of reaching the knockout stage.
Sudan succumbed to a heavy 3-0 defeat to Algeria in their opening game at the continental showpiece, posing threat to their qualification chances.
Speaking ahead of the clash, Mohamed Abdel Rahman nicknamed ‘Gharbal’ affirmed his outfit can overcome their opponent to progress to the next stage of the competition.
“Our match against Guinea will not be easy; they are a strong and respectable team, but we can overcome them and advance further in the African Cup of Nations.”
“We hope to reach the next stage and continue our mission, advancing to the next round of the tournament.”
“We have players in the national team who were born outside the country, but we are originally Sudanese even if our cultures differ. We all play our matches in the name of our country and aim to win and get points in our matches. We will spare no effort and we hope for success in our mission.
As a sign of motivating the playing body, the President of the Sudanese Football Association, Mutasim Jaafar Sir Al-Khatim, held a dinner for the Falcons of Jediane as the team seeks for their first win at the tournament.
