Egypt defender Rami Rabia says his outfit are prepared to die for their teammate Mohamed Hamdi, who has been struck down by injury at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Hamdi, 30, succumbed to a frustrating injury in the last 16 clash against Benin last Monday and has been ruled out of the tournament.

After securing qualification to the semifinals of the tournament, Rami Rabia expressed worry about Mohamed Hamdi’s injury, declaring readiness to die for him at the tournament.

“Ivory Coast is a strong team, but we prepared well for the match, with strength and focus, and that was evident at the beginning of the match.”

“We agreed from the first match to fight because the Egyptian people need joy, and so do we.”

“We hope Mohamed Hamdi recovers because the injury was serious, and we are ready to die for him.” He told beIN SPORTS:

The Pharaohs defeated Ivory Coast 3-2 in the quarterfinals clash on Saturday at the Adrar Stadium in Agadir, setting up a tricky encounter against Senegal at the continental showpiece.

It promises to be a thrilling clash, as both teams will be yearning for victory to secure a place in the finals of the tournament, being held in Morocco.

The match between Egypt and Senegal is a repeat of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations final in Cameroon, where the Taranga Lions triumphed over the Pharaohs to clinch their first AFCON title.

Egypt last won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2010, defeating Ghana 1-0 to annex their seventh title on the continent.
