Nigeria international Victor Osimhen missed the Super Eagles training session on Thursday as the team gears up for the crucial round 16 clash against Mozambique.
The West African football heavyweights will lock horns with Mozambique following their impressive group stage run, where the Super Eagles finished on top pf their group at the continental showpiece, being held in Morocco.
Osimhen, was one of the three players who missed the Super Eagles training on Thursday, as the team prepare for the last 16 clash. The Galatasaray star is believed to be resting as part of a workload plan, with no injury reported by team doctors.
Nigeria coach Éric Chelle ordered the session to be held behind closed doors in Fes, signaling a reduce distractions before the knockout stage.
Besides Osimhen, Cyriel Dessers and Ryan Alebiosu also missed the sides training due to injuries.
Osimhen has been key to Nigeria’s group run, scoring against Tunisia and captaining the team against Uganda. He was instrumental in the side group games for the Super Eagles, who enjoyed a perfect run
Dessers, nursing a thigh problem, is yet to feature, but Nigeria have found goals through Akor Adams and Paul Onuachu. Alebiosu, who impressed on debut, is recovering from a leg injury and may return later.
Both are expected to miss Monday’s match as Chelle focuses on a quarter-final place.
