Head coach of South Africa Hugo Broos, has set sights on securing victory in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations opening game against Angola.
The Bafana Bafana takes on the Palancas Negras at the Stade de Marrakesh on Tuesday night in Group B, with both teams seeking for a win.
And according to Broos, the Bafana Bafana winning their opening encounter could ease off pressure from his troops for the remaining games at the tournament.
“We are very happy that we can start this tournament and play our first game this evening,” Broos said as per safa.net.
We all know that we will face a tough opponent [Angola], but I think that my team is ready. It is very important we win that first game. I think you make a big step for qualification for later or to survive the group stages.
“So again, we will try to win it and to put ourselves in a good position for the second game against Egypt.”
Having finished third in the previous edition, Broos and his charges are aiming to go past the feat in the current tournament.
