South Africa coach Hugo Broos is set for a new milestone ahead of their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations opener against Angola on Monday.

The Bafana Bafana will open their account at the continental showpiece against the Palancas Negras in a high-stake clash, with both teams seeking for a flying start to the tournament.

Broos, who took over the South African coaching job in May 2021 will mark his 50th appearances for the Bafana Bafana, marking a significant milestone in his coaching career.

The Belgian gaffer now becomes the longest serving Bafana Bafana coach, having being at the helm for almost four years.

Since his arrival, Broos has led the Bafana Bafana in 49 matches, winning 24 games, drawing 19, and losing six across the period.

He took over Bafana Bafana in May 2021 and has seen them reach third place in the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, qualified for this year’s spectacle and also managed to guide them to next year’s World Cup co-hosted in USA, Mexico and Canada.

Broos is beaming with confidence as Bafana moved World Rankings from 75th place to 61st and are currently on an unbeaten run of 25 games.

A lot is expected from the Bafana in this 35th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations given their previous display in Ivory Coast.

With his full strength 25-man squad, the team is seen as one of the favourites in this tournament.
