Six Egypt players are one card away from suspension at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament, as the Pharaohs gears up for the semi-final showdown against Senegal.
The Pharaohs entire defensive set up including, Mohamed El Shenawy, Hossam Abdel-Magid, Rami Rabia, Ahmed Fattouh, Marwan Attia, and Hamdi Fathi now risk missing the final match at the continental showpiece in Morocco.
The players must, however, avoid sanction in their game against the Taranga Lions on Wednesday to be able to feature in either the final or third place game this weekend.
Goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy and Hossam Abdel Meguid received yellow cards in their game against Ivory Coast, bringing the total number of players facing suspension to six.
The North African football powerhouse, who are seeking for their eighth AFCON title triumphed over Ivory Coast with a 3-2 victory in the quarterfinals match, held at the Adrar Stadium in Agadir.
The match between Egypt and Senegal is a repeat of the 2021 AFCON final in Cameroon, where the Taranga Lions defeated the Pharaohs to secure their first continental title.
Egypt last won the AFCON 2010, defeating Ghana 1-0 the title in Angola and are poised to annex the title in Morocco this time.
