Senegal have taken a decisive step ahead of their semi-final encounter against Egypt at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, as the Lions of Teranga seek to maximise support during one of the most crucial matches of the tournament.
The reigning champions secured their place in the semi-finals after edging past Mali with a narrow 1-0 victory in last Friday’s quarter-final. Their progress set up a highly anticipated showdown with Egypt, who booked their own place in the last four following a dramatic 3-2 win over Ivory Coast, inspired by captain Mohamed Salah.
As preparations continue, a source has revealed that Senegal are placing increased emphasis on the backing of their supporters for Wednesday’s clash.
In a move aimed at strengthening fan presence, Senegalese Airlines has announced an additional direct flight between Dakar and Tangier, making it easier for supporters to travel and rally behind the national team at this decisive stage of the competition.
The special flight is scheduled to depart Dakar on January 13 at 3:45 pm, with ticket prices set at 400,000 CFA francs, inclusive of all taxes. Return flights for travelling supporters are expected to depart from Casablanca.
With both teams eyeing a place in the AFCON 2025 final, Senegal’s decision highlights the importance of fan support as the Lions of Teranga prepare for a high-stakes battle against the Pharaohs.
