Former Senegal international Pape Fall has expressed that his outfit upcoming semifinals clash against Egypt at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations will be complicated.
The Taranga Lions triumphed over Mali in the quarterfinals of the continental showpiece, setting up a crucial encounter against Egypt.
The high-stake semifinals clash between Senegal and Egypt has been scheduled to take place on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, with both teams seeking for a win to secure a place in the finals of the tournament, being held in Morocco.
Speaking to FilGoal.com, the former Senegal star stressed the upcoming clash the two teams will be purely tactical.
“It will be a beautiful encounter between two teams who know each other very well, and the mental factor will be strongly present, especially since physical readiness has begun to be affected, and it will be a very tactical match, especially in terms of managing the game.”
“Every match is different depending on the context, and it will undoubtedly be a match where commitment, determination, and the desire to win prevail. It is not always the best team that wins, but rather the one who takes advantage of the opportunities.”
“The final is not just played, it is won in the final. Every team has its chance, but the semi-final between Morocco and Nigeria will also not be easy.”
“I know the match will be very tactical. Egypt against Ivory Coast was very tactical, with constant pressure on the ball carrier, good defensive three-man defense, excellent anticipation and interception of the ball in the middle to launch quickly forward, and exploiting Marmoush’s speed and cunning, as one movement from him is enough, and he must be watched like someone watching milk on the fire. Imam Ashour is also a very important player and must be watched carefully.” He concluded.
