The knockout stage will get underway on Saturday at the Grand Stade de Tanger, where 2021 champions Senegal face Sudan in the opening match of the round.
Later that evening, Mali will take on Tunisia at the Stade Mohammed V in Casablanca, with both sides eyeing progression after contrasting group-stage journeys.
On Sunday, hosts Morocco return to action when they face Tanzania at the Stade Prince Moulay Abdellah in Rabat. Monday’s action will see record seven-time champions Egypt take on Benin at the Grand Stade d’Agadir. The Pharaohs, who have not lifted the AFCON trophy since 2010, will be hoping to take another step toward ending that long wait. The evening fixture will feature Nigeria against Mozambique at the Complexe Sportif de Fès, with the Super Eagles seeking to build on their impressive group-stage form and improve on their runner-up finish at the 2023 edition.
The Round of 16 will conclude on Tuesday, January 6, with two highly anticipated encounters. Algeria will face the Democratic Republic of Congo at the Stade Prince Héritier Moulay El Hassan in Rabat, before defending champions Côte d’Ivoire clash with Burkina Faso at the Grand Stade de Marrakech in the final match of the round.
