Algeria international Riyad Mahrez has reached a significant milestone of his career after netting a brace in the sides commanding victory over Sudan at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations opener.
The former Leicester City and Manchester City star lasted the entire duration as Algeria cruised to a resounding 3-0 win over Sudan in crush Group E clash on Wednesday.
Mahrez, who currently plies his trade in the Saudi Pro League played a pivotal role, netting a brace to inspire the side to victory at the Stade Prince Moulay El Hassan.
As captain of the Algeria national team, Mahrez delivered a standout individual performance to propel the side to victory.
Mahrez now has accumulated 80 goal contributions at international level. Out of 108 appearances for Algeria, the experienced winger has racked up 36 goals and provided 44 assists across the period.
Besides, the former Premier League winner has found the net at four different editions of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Mahrez was instrumental when Algeria inflicted a 1-0 win over Sebegal to secure the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations title. He will be hoping to steer the sides to another continental success this time in Morocco.
