Raphael Onyedika delivered a standout performance to be named Man of the Match in Nigeria’s 3–1 victory over Uganda at the Complexe Sportif de Fès, sealing top spot in Group C for the Super Eagles.
Nigeria came into the game already in control of the group after wins over Tanzania and Tunisia, while Uganda needed a win to stay alive.
Paul Onuachu opened the scoring in the 28th minute, guiding a low finish into the bottom left corner after sustained Nigerian pressure and a clever assist from Fisayo Dele-Bashiru. Uganda’s hopes were further damaged early in the second half when goalkeeper Salim Magoola was sent off for a handball in the 56th minute, leaving them with ten men.
Nigeria then turned to Onyedika, who struck twice in quick succession. He made it 2–0 in the 62nd minute with a composed right-footed effort from the right side of the box, before adding a third from the centre of the area five minutes later, both goals supplied by Samuel Chukwueze.
Despite Rogers Mato pulling one back for Uganda in the 75th minute, Nigeria calmly managed the final stages to close out a commanding win and a perfect group campaign.
