Morocco defender Noussair Mazraoui has indicated that he is focused on doing his best to ensure the Atlas Lions win every match at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
He stressed that discussions about easy or difficult opponents are no longer relevant, noting that every remaining team is determined to win the title or go as far as possible in the tournament.
Mazraoui made the remarks during Morocco’s training session ahead of their Round of 16 encounter against Tanzania, scheduled for Sunday at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Complex in Rabat, with kick-off set for 5 pm.
Emphasising the responsibility on the host nation, he said, “Every team gives its all to please its fans, and we are required to win the African Cup, which Morocco has not succeeded in winning for fifty years.”
Addressing questions about his role in the team following Achraf Hakimi’s injury, Mazraoui made it clear that he is ready to serve wherever he is needed on the pitch. He explained that he is comfortable playing at right-back, left-back or even in central defence, as long as it benefits the team’s objectives.
“The most important thing is to contribute to the team and win every match,” he added.
Mazraoui’s comments reflect the strong sense of discipline and sacrifice within the Moroccan camp, as the team looks to strike the right balance between defensive solidity and attacking intent.
With Tanzania standing in their path to the quarter-finals, the Atlas Lions remain focused on collective harmony and delivering a performance worthy of their ambitions.
