Victor Osimhen and Akor Adams delivered as Nigeria secured a place in the semi-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations with a commanding victory over Algeria.
The Super Eagles, 2023 runners-up, dominated the first half in Marrakech, though Adams missed a golden opportunity to break the deadlock just eight minutes before halftime, curling narrowly over the crossbar.
Osimhen ended the stalemate almost immediately after the restart, heading Bruno Onyemaechi’s precise cross from the left into the net for his fourth goal of the tournament, just 85 seconds into the second half.
Ten minutes later, Adams doubled the lead, calmly rounding Algeria goalkeeper Luca Zidane after Osimhen’s clever setup, completing a slick team move.
Sevilla forward Adams came close to making it 3-0 late on but saw his header from Osimhen’s cross crash against the post with nine minutes left.
Nigeria now face hosts Morocco in the semi-finals at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat on Wednesday, kick-off 20:00 GMT.
