AFCON 2025: Nigeria get full house as star Victor Osimhen arrives in camp
Nigeria coach Etic Chelle now has full squad following the arrival of Galatasaray star Victor Osimhen in camp as the team gears up for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Morocco.
Chelle, who took over the Super Eagles coaching job named a 28-man squad for the continental showpiece. Osimhen, who plies his trade in Turkey was the last player to arrive in camp.
However, the communication officer of the Super Eagles Promise Efoghe has described the arrival of Osimhen as a major morale booster for the tournament.
“Victor Osimhen joined the camp late Wednesday night… we now have all invited players in camp,” Efoghe said. “It is a big lift for the squad… final preparations begin in earnest.”
The 35th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations has been scheduled to run from December 21 through to January 18, 2026, with 24 countries set to battle it out for the covetous trophy in the North African nation.
Nigeria will be based in Fez for the group stage of AFCON 2025. The Super Eagles have been drawn in Group C, where they will face Tanzania, Tunisia, and Uganda. All of Nigeria’s group matches will be played at the Complexe Sportif de Fès.
The Super Eagles will begin their AFCON 2025 campaign against Tanzania on Tuesday, 23 December, before taking on Tunisia on 27 December and rounding off the group stage against Uganda on 30 December.
