The Super Eagles of Nigeria commenced their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) with a 2-1 triumph over Tanzania on Tuesday.
The opening goal of the match came in the 36th minute when Nigeria’s Semi Ajayi found the back of the net after he was assisted by Alex Iwobi.
However, Tanzania had other plans as they fought back in the second half, with Charles William MMombwa equalising to make it 1-1 in the 50th minute.
The game took another turn just two minutes later when Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman seized the opportunity to put his team back in front with a precise strike in the 52nd minute.
Despite their best efforts, Tanzania couldn’t find the equaliser, and Nigeria held on to claim a crucial victory in their Africa Cup of Nations opener.
