Nicolas Jackson expressed his delight after scoring twice in Senegal’s 3-0 win over Botswana to open their AFCON 2025 campaign in style.

The striker delivered a clinical brace in Tangier, striking in the 40th and 58th minutes before being substituted to a warm reception from the Senegal fans.

Named TotalEnergies Man of the Match, Jackson summed up his feelings, saying he was very happy to start the tournament by scoring two goals and that he hopes it will be the beginning of many more.

“I am very happy to have started on this note by scoring two goals and hopefully it is the start of many goals to come. Most importantly we won the match and played well. It is an important victory but now it is behind us and we will move our focus to the next game,” he said.

Jackson had been a constant threat from the start, denied several times by Botswana goalkeeper Goitseone Phoko before finally breaking the deadlock with a first-time finish from Ismail Jakobs’ cross. He then added his second after the break from an Ismaila Sarr assist, before substitute Cherif Ndiaye sealed the comfortable win in stoppage time.
