Morocco midfielder Neil El Aynaoui has rallied his teammates to move on from the draw against Mali on Friday night and prepare towards winning their last group match against Zambia.
The Atlas Lions were denied early progression to the Round 16 stage of the AFCON when the Eagles came from behind to pick a crucial point from their second Group A contest.
Speaking in a post-match interview after he was named Man of the Match, Neil El Aynaoui called for focus, arguing that Morocco did not manage their lead very well in the stalemate against Mali.
“I have not really reflected on this award because of the outcome of this match, but I do appreciate the award and look forward to the next match. We should quickly move on. We didn’t perform well in managing our lead and we need to move on.
“We have been trying to build a strong squad for the past two years, so we need to be patient and find a solution. The focus now moves to our last match which we aim to win,” Neil El Aynaoui said as quoted by CAFOnline.
With four points from their first two matches, just a point from the final group game against Zambia on Monday, December 27, could see Morocco top Group A to advance to the Round 16 stage.
