Egypt goalkeeper Mostafa Shobeir spoke with pride after making his first appearance at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in the goalless draw against Angola.
Thrown in for the final Group B game, he acknowledged the pressure of the occasion and the intensity of an Angolan side fighting to stay in the tournament.
Shobeir said he was proud to finally feature at a major continental event, stressing that the match was far from easy because Angola “fought hard to keep their qualification hopes alive.” He admitted Egypt’s performance dipped at times, explaining that the team included many new faces and there was a lack of understanding in some areas of the pitch, but still felt they produced a good overall display.
The goalkeeper underlined his full belief in Egypt’s ability to go all the way, insisting the players will give everything to lift the trophy.
Forward Salah Mohsen echoed that optimism, saying he was happy to play in the competition, that Egypt created chances and pushed for victory, and that the squad is ready to face any opponent in the last 16.
