As the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations continues to captivate the continent, Morocco has distinguished itself not only through football, but also through exceptional hospitality extended to African and international sports media.

The media experience organised by the National Association for Media and Publishers (ANME) in collaboration with the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), as part of activities surrounding AFCON 2025.

The initiative has brought together journalists and editors from across Africa and the Arab world, offering them a first-hand feel of Moroccan culture, professionalism and people-centred service.

From Casablanca to Rabat to Fes and to Tanger and Marrakech subsequently, visitors have been with warmth and genuine kindness from locals, supported by efficient coordination, comfortable transport arrangements and attentive guides.

The high quality of service ensured a smooth and enjoyable stay, allowing journalists to focus fully on tournament coverage.

Beyond the football, the organisers curated visits to some of Morocco’s most historic and monumental landmarks.

These included the iconic Hassan II Mosque, the historic districts of Casablanca, the Corniche, Habous Market and Mohammed V Square.

The delegation also toured the El Hank Lighthouse, the Sacred Heart Casablanca Cathedral, the Royal Palace and the ultra-modern Casablanca Financial City, highlighting Morocco’s unique blend of tradition and modernity.

Also to the famous Anfa Hotel which hosted The Casablanca Conference or Anfa Conference in Casablanca, French Morocco, from January 14 to 24, 1943, to plan the Allied European strategy for the next phase of World War II.

The main discussions were between US President Franklin Roosevelt (with his military staff) and British Prime Minister Winston Churchill (with his staff).

Journalists also attended the opening ceremony in Rabat, which delivered a powerful cultural showcase celebrating African unity, heritage and creativity – widely regarded as one of the most impressive opening displays in AFCON history.

Morocco’s approach offers a compelling lesson for African host nations. By combining football with warm hospitality, efficient services, cultural storytelling and world-class organisation, countries can attract more fans, media interest and tourism.

AFCON 2025 has shown that when African nations invest in people, culture and experience alongside football, the game becomes a powerful vehicle for continental pride and global appeal.
