Authorities in Agadir have raised the state of alert and activated a series of preventive measures ahead of expected severe weather that could hit the region.

The precautions coincide with the Egypt–Benin last‑16 tie at Adrar Stadium on Monday in the Africa Cup of Nations.

According to Moroccan press reports, coordination meetings were held to prepare for heavy rainfall, with officials deciding to increase emergency readiness and clear rainwater drainage channels. Civil protection services and intervention equipment have been widely mobilized to respond quickly to any potential emergencies.

The plan also includes closing the main commercial market on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, and suspending classes until Monday in several neighboring provinces to reduce risk. Local authorities have already begun field operations in low‑lying districts, reinforcing coordination between municipal and technical departments to ensure rapid response if needed.

Citizens and match‑going fans have been urged to remain cautious and follow official guidance.

These measures aim to guarantee public safety and ensure the Egypt–Benin game goes ahead in the safest possible conditions despite the unstable weather forecast over the coming days.
