Morocco’s supporters unknowingly achieved a remarkable feat during the AFCON semi-final against Nigeria at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, registering an unprecedented noise level in the stands.
Videos shared on social media showed the crowd’s roar reaching around 108 decibels at key moments, especially during intense pressure and collective chanting.
According to images circulated online, the sound level was measured using a specialised smartphone app inside the stands, with the indicator surpassing typical stadium levels to approach the noise of a jet engine preparing for take-off. Although these readings did not come from an official body, they clearly reflected the power and density of Moroccan fan support throughout the match.
The crowd played a decisive role in shaping the atmosphere, sustaining non-stop chants from the opening whistle. This relentless backing put continuous psychological pressure on Nigerian players while giving Morocco’s stars a visible morale boost on the pitch, influencing the game’s tempo and intensity.
In doing so, the fans appear to have set a striking, if unofficial, record without any prior planning, once again proving that Moroccan stadiums can generate exceptional atmospheres that elevate the national team and give matches a uniquely charged competitive edge.
