Morocco head coach Walid Regragui has admitted that his side faces a difficult challenge when they take on Nigeria in the semi-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations on Wednesday.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Regragui reflected on Morocco’s return to the last four of the competition, noting that it has been a long time since the Atlas Lions reached this stage of the tournament.
“We are happy to have qualified for the semi-finals, and the match will not be easy and will be tough between the two teams,” the Moroccan coach said.
Regragui also highlighted the quality of the remaining contenders, describing the semi-final lineup as a true reflection of the tournament’s competitiveness.
“The semi-finals of this edition feature the four best African teams, which demonstrates the strength of the competition this year,” he added.
The former Morocco international concluded by stressing the team’s determination to reach the final and bring joy to the home supporters, insisting that the clash with Nigeria should be treated with the intensity of a final.
He noted that the technical team and players are fully focused on securing qualification for the Africa Cup of Nations final and making Moroccan fans proud.
The semi-final clash between Nigeria and Morocco is scheduled to kick off at 20:00GMT on Wednesday.
