Morocco head Coach Walid Regragui has confirmed Achraf Hakimi’s availability for the final group game against Zambia at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
In high-stake clash on Monday, the Atlas Lions will take on the Chipolopolo at the Stade Prince Moulay Abdallah, with both teams seeking for maximum points.
Having gained full fitness, Walid Regragui insists the enterprising Paris Saint Germain will make his first appearance at the tournament when they take on the Chipolopolo on Monday, December 29, 2025.
“What is certain is that he will play tomorrow’s match, but whether he will start or not, we will decide tomorrow,” Regragui said at a press conference on the eve of the match.
“Everyone is talking about Hakimi’s absence from the national team despite his recovery. Is there any coach in the world who can do without the best player on his team, the best player in Africa? He is the best player and the captain of the national team. We don’t want to lose his efforts because we need him throughout the entire tournament, not just in one match.”
He continued, “The team will certainly be different with his participation. He has proven his skills and leadership qualities.”
Morocco sit top of Group A with four points, while Mali and Zambia are tied on two points each heading into the final round of the games.
However, a win for Morocco will secure them a place in the knockout stage of the continental showpiece.
