AFCON 2025: Morocco awaits squad reveal as Hamza Igamane faces serious uncertainty

Morocco prepares to announce its squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, but Hamza Igamane’s condition now dominates discussions inside the Royal Moroccan Football Federation.

The Federation expects to publish the final list on Thursday, according to information from the specialist outlet Le Professeur.

The Lille forward injured himself last Friday during the league match against Olympique de Marseille, a game he viewed as an opportunity to strengthen his case before AFCON.

Lille intends to protect him by resting him for Thursday’s Europa League fixture in Switzerland and monitoring his condition ahead of Sunday’s league match against Auxerre, reports La Voix du Nord.

Le Professeur notes that Igamane continues to wait for final medical assessments.

The national team’s technical staff follows the situation closely, but they do not feel encouraged by his current physical state.

They plan to make the final call on Wednesday, although confidence remains low.

This uncertainty frustrates Igamane, who leads Lille’s scoring chart this season with nine goals.

He expected to travel to Morocco as part of Walid Regragui’s squad and aimed to compete for a starting role.

His possible absence forces the coaching staff to rethink their attacking structure at a pivotal moment.

Regragui now faces a decision that could shape Morocco’s forward options for the tournament.
