A solitary strike from Brahim Diaz propelled Morocco to a 1-0 victory over Tanzania on Sunday evening, sending the Atlas Lions into the quarter-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The Round of 16 encounter at the Stade Prince Moulay Abdallah saw Tanzania begin brightly, showing no signs of intimidation despite their underdog status and pressing Morocco aggressively from the opening minutes.
They managed to keep the host out, but a fine strike from Diaz in the 64th minute, after he was assisted by captain Achraf Hakimi, decided the contest.
