Moroccan police have arrested 118 individuals suspected of involvement in illegal ticket sales linked to the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations tournament, according to local media reports on Wednesday.
The public radio and television website disclosed that security services carried out operations aimed at “combating speculation in football stadium tickets and the illegal trafficking of them,” leading to the arrests across several cities.
Those apprehended have been placed under judicial investigation under the supervision of the public prosecutor.
According to the report, some of the suspects are being prosecuted while in custody, while others have been released pending further proceedings, depending on the nature of the charges against them.
Local media explained that the police tracked dozens of social media posts advertising match tickets at prices far above their official value.
Investigators were able to identify the individuals believed to be responsible for publishing and circulating the offers.
The suspects are facing charges that include illegal ticket sales, forgery, manipulation of electronic data processing systems, fraud, and the preparation and dissemination of false news.
Reports also indicated that eight people suspected of similar offences were arrested earlier in the week.
