Egypt captain Mohamed Salah is expected to return to Liverpool next week following the conclusion of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final, scheduled for Sunday, January 18.
Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has been without the forward for several weeks due to Egypt’s AFCON campaign. Despite the Pharaohs’ elimination at the semi-final stage, the national team are set to remain in Morocco until the end of the week as they prepare for the third-place playoff against either Morocco or Nigeria.
As a result, Salah is set to miss Liverpool’s Premier League fixture against Burnley next Saturday and is also likely to be unavailable for the Reds’ UEFA Champions League clash with Marseille on Wednesday, January 21.
The Egyptian star is expected to make his return either in the Premier League match against Bournemouth on January 24 or in Liverpool’s Champions League encounter with Azerbaijani side Qarabag on January 28.
Salah has endured a challenging season at Anfield, with a noticeable dip in his goal output, a situation that has seen him dropped to the bench on several occasions under Arne Slot.
After finding his form at the AFCON, he is expected to impress on his return to Liverpool.
