AFCON 2025: Mohamed Salah and his teammates are determined to do something special for the country – Hossam Hassan
Egypt head coach Hossam Hassan has signaled that Mohamed Salah is fired up and ready to lead the Pharaohs in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations campaign.
The seven-time AFCON champions last lifted the trophy in 2010, and Hassan believes Salah’s determination could be pivotal in ending that drought.
“I am always in contact with Mohamed Salah, and I met him when he joined the camp. He has great motivation,” Hossam told reporters.
“Since I took over the national team, Salah has gone through a decline in form, but he always regains his balance with the national team because he finds himself with his teammates.”
He acknowledged that Salah has faced dips in form at club level but stressed that the forward always finds his rhythm with the national team.
“Mohamed Salah will remain an icon and one of the best players in the world. His morale is very high, and we must not forget that Mohamed Salah wants to win the Africa Cup of Nations.
“God willing, he and his teammates will do something special for their country.”
Egypt will kick off their group stage campaign against Zimbabwe on Monday night.
