Head coach of Mali Tom Saintfiet has fired a warning shot to Morocco ahead of their crucial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations clash on Friday.
The Eagles of Mali will take on Morocco in their second Group A clash, with both teams seeking for maximum points in the highly competitive clash.
With Morocco securing victory in their opening day victory, the Eagles of Mali settled for a 1-1 draw against Zambia.
Ahead of the match, Tom Saintfiet has set sights on triumphing over Morocco in an attempt to maintain his winning run against the Atlas Lions.
“Will we park the bus against Morocco? I’ve played Morocco only once, back in 2019.
We won 1-0 by parking the bus with only 21% possession. So, I want to maintain my 100% record against them. However, in Mali, I don’t have a ‘bus’. I want to play 100% attacking football because we have great players.”
The 35th edition of the continental showpiece which commenced last Sunday run until January 18, 2026, with 24 countries battling it out for the covetous trophy in Morocco.
The Atlas Lions capped off an impressive start to the Africa Cup of Nations, inflicting a 2-0 victory over Comoros on Sunday.
