The head coach of Morocco, Walid Regragui, is all fired up ahead of the team’s opening Group A fixture against Comoros at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The Atlas Lions will set the tone for the much-anticipated tournament on Sunday, December 21, in Rabat, when they face off with Comoros.
Speaking in a pre-match interview, Regragui said it will be a big day for the entire of Morocco.
The coach insists that after preparing to host the rest of the continent for the past two years, Morocco aims to clinch the AFCON trophy at the end of the tournament.
“We have been working for two years. It will be a big day at home. Our objective has always been to win the AFCON and to give everything. Our supporters are with us,” Walid Regragui said as quoted on CAFOnline.
In his pre-match press conference, the coach provided an update on injured Achraf Hakimi, noting that there is a possibility he will be in the starting eleven.
“He may start, or he may not. Every match is important. We will have to manage emotions and play with confidence and humility,” Walid Regragui said.
