Head coach of South Africa, Hugo Broos, has summed up his sides slender loss to Cameroon in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations as sheer ill luck.
The Bafana Bafana painfully excited the continental showpiece on Sunday night after falling short to the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon 2-1 in the round of 16 clash.
Junior Tchamadeu and Christian Kofane scored in the first half for the Indomitable Lions, while Evidence Makgopa scored to reduce the deficit for the Bafana Bafana in a high-stake clash.
For Broos, South Africa should have buried the game considering the numerous chances they squandered throughout the match.
“We started very well at the game, and we had chances to score, I think if we had scored, we can never lose the game,” Broos said in his post-match interview.
“I was happy with what we brought in the first half, so we thought to go on in the second and after a few minutes in the second then we concede a second goal and that is a little bit pity because then we had to score two goals.
“Even we had the chances to score those two goals and to have a draw, but it was not our day today.” He said.
Having being eliminated from the AFCON, the Bafana Bafana will turn their attention to the 2026 World Cup tournament to be held in the USA, Canada and Mexico.
