Morocco midfielder Ismael Saibari has praised his teammates for their tactical discipline and intelligent approach after the Atlas Lions secured a quarter-final victory over Cameroon at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The versatile midfielder played a key role in Friday’s encounter, getting on the scoresheet as Morocco knocked out the Indomitable Lions to book their place in the semi-finals of the tournament.
His performance capped a solid team display that saw the hosts control key moments of a physically demanding contest.
Speaking to beIN Sports after the match, Saibari highlighted the importance of Morocco’s collective approach and decision-making throughout the game.
“We played with the same intensity and the same burning desire to win. We were compact across all three lines. We succeeded in scoring the goal at the right time, unlike what happened in the Tanzania match, and we knew from the beginning that the match would be physically difficult,” he said.
Saibari acknowledged the quality of the opposition and stressed that Morocco’s composure ultimately proved decisive.
“We must not forget that the Cameroonian team was ready and possessed high football quality. I think we played the match in a smart and good way, and that made the difference,” he said.
Looking ahead, the midfielder made it clear that Morocco’s ambitions remain firmly focused on lifting the trophy.
“If you want to win the Africa Cup of Nations, you have to beat all the teams. I want to be a champion.”
