Fredy capped a commanding midfield performance with the Man of the Match award as Angola and Egypt battled to a goalless draw in their AFCON 2025 group clash in Agadir.
Angola and Egypt shared the points in a tense 0–0 encounter, but it was Angola’s Fredy who lit up the night with his energy, creativity and leadership from midfield. Angola gradually took control after a cagey start, using their physicality to disrupt Egypt’s rhythm and push the Pharaohs deep into their own half.
Fredy was at the heart of Angola’s best moments, first stinging the palms of goalkeeper Shobeir with a powerful long-range effort just before half-time. Early in the second half he went even closer, curling a free-kick against the woodwork as Angola turned up the pressure and hunted for a breakthrough.
Despite sustained attacks from Fredy, Mabululu, Modesto and substitute M’Bala Nzola, Angola could not find the decisive touch, with Nzola’s late effort shaving the outside of the post.
Egypt offered little going forward but showed resilience and organisation to protect their clean sheet, leaving Angola to rue missed chances even as Fredy’s outstanding display was recognised with the Man of the Match prize.
