The Confederation of African Football’s disciplinary committee is set to convene on Tuesday to deliberate on possible sanctions against the Senegalese national team following events during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final.

Senegal were crowned champions after edging hosts Morocco 1 0 in Sunday’s final, sealing the continental title in dramatic fashion. However, the celebrations have been followed by disciplinary concerns linked to the conduct of the Lions of Teranga during the decisive encounter.

Senegal now face the prospect of severe punishment after their players briefly withdrew from the pitch in protest over a penalty awarded to Morocco. The team later returned to complete the match, but the incident has drawn the attention of CAF’s disciplinary bodies.

A source revealed that the committee had initially planned to meet on Sunday, but the Senegal Football Federation requested a postponement, pushing the meeting to Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Moroccan newspaper “Al Muntakhab” has outlined several possible outcomes of the disciplinary process. Citing a legal expert, the report suggested that Senegal could be hit with a financial fine, be forced to play home matches behind closed doors, or see players and members of the technical team suspended.

CAF’s decision is now eagerly awaited as Senegal look to move on from their historic triumph amid the looming threat of disciplinary action.
