The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco has given Egypt the chance to refresh its squad, with 11 players making their first-ever appearances for the national team at the tournament.

Coach Hossam Hassan has used the competition to open the door for new blood and offer them valuable international experience on a big stage.

The debutants are: Mostafa Shobeir, Rami Rabia, Hossam Abdelmaguid, Ahmed Eid, Khaled Sobhi, Mohamed Ismail, Ibrahim Adel, Mahmoud Saber, Mohamed Shehata, Salah Mohsen, and Osama Faisal. Relying on this group reflects a clear strategy to broaden Egypt’s options and build a deeper, more competitive squad for future challenges.

Across the three group matches against Zimbabwe, South Africa, and Angola, Hassan used 26 out of the 28 players in his final list, underlining his desire to assess as many names as possible in real match conditions.

This wide rotation shows the technical staff’s commitment to evaluating every player closely before the knockout rounds, while also expanding the pool of footballers ready to wear Egypt’s famous shirt in upcoming campaigns.
