Egypt defender Mohamed Hamdi has successfully undergone surgery in Germany after sustaining an anterior cruciate ligament injury during the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The national team defender suffered a serious knee injury while featuring in Egypt’s round of 16 clash against Benin. Following the setback, the Egyptian Football Association, working closely with his club Pyramids FC, finalised arrangements for the player to travel to Germany for the surgical procedure.
was accompanied to Munich by Pyramids FC physiotherapist Luis Estevas, who remained with the defender throughout the surgery and will continue to oversee his recovery process until his return to Cairo for the initial phase of physiotherapy.
The Egyptian international is expected to remain under medical supervision in Germany for follow-up assessments after the operation, with a return date to Cairo to be determined ahead of the commencement of his full rehabilitation and recovery programme.
